Cool Just wondering: What wild addons would you like to see for the Land Rover?

Hi all from Adam in NYC in the middle of the night checking out the snow.

Just was looking at the photos coming out of the American Detroit Auto Show and looking at the Ford accents.

What would I like to see in a third-party addon for enhancing a Land Rover. I start day-dreaming or snow-dreaming in my case.

In case you don't know, I own a 96 Discovery 1.

Grills: On the front I would like to see a few new options like an chromed version of the Saudi grill with the option of fog lights like the early style grill of the Discos.

Ford has decided to come out with a three bar grill. Wonder how that would look with a large LandRover emblem to the side that lights up in the dark?

Hows this for a project? Make them bars in the grill open up for road speed and close tight when parked?

LED lighting: Heck, LED headlights are being the rage in the concept cars. Some of the newer lights incorporate the new ones for "citylight" use. Anybody out here feeling a wee bit peckish and design one that would make people take a second look at the old ride? I personally would like to take advantage of those old holes and make the Discovery look more like the Defender.

I also think it would be interesting to incorporate the smallish DE style lights into the headlight and you have super lights builtin to the OEM spots.

Lighted cargo bars
: Nothing wrong with adding a few sidelights into the overhead cargo bars and also had some stare-down reverse lights when you backup.

Also thinking of adding some stone lamps under the Nerf bars for stepping in and out.

Interior
: Seen the kit that closes the windows when you turn on the alarm. Some guy is selling the kit addon for the alarm on eBay. Would you like one that would pop the sunroof and crack the windows when it gets too hot inside?

Back door: Anyone done it powered yet? Would like to see that open automatically when you have to get busy.

What model and what addon (specify interior/exterior, please) would you like to see in your ride?

PS Let the wild ideas ride. Maybe if there is enough interest, we can start a new section on hooking up your ride.

I would say, run out and buy yourself a UT sticker for the back and a little Dallas Cowboy hitch cover.

For someone in NY, that should be wild enough to get your car plenty of attention. Hey, dont forget the Boston Red Sox flag for the window.

I'd like to see a kit where you could take the body of the disco off and replace it with a d90/d110 style body with little effort.

Hehe..that would be really cool. You could probably only really do it with one of those "skateboard" drivetrains.....like in the fuel cell vehicles.

More realistically I think they should just have one short wheelbase, no frills, barebones, off road vehicle, that is exactly like a wrangler, but an LR instead. Yup.

I was thinking D90 size....or around there....your right though....something a tad bigger would be more practical. How about like Toyota FJcruiser size?...with the suicide opening rear half-doors?

yeah, anything around that size. the only reasons i dont like the TJs and CJs is because of course they're small, and EVERYONE has one.

BTW, I lived in San Antonio in my stint in the Air Force.

We got plenty of cowboys here , BTW, they call me that at work (you should see the ones from Tiawan, they dance squaredance better than the domestic ones). They just drive Nissans here.

As for the Red Sox flag, there are plenty here and when you go back 50 miles north, everyone is a Boston fan.
