Hello from Adam in NYC
I found this awhile reading the newsgroups: http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.p...d=13&Itemid=29 Basically, it is a web site that has the RAVE Cds online in iso or CDI format. Here is a place that you can get a decent image of the RAVE Cds and the Parts List without purchasing a virused bootleg off of eBay. Yes I have those as well. How to use them: there are a few software products that allow you to mount these images as CD drives under XP. I also believe you can do this under Linux using the loop device but I am not familiar about it. Ditto with Mas OSX but I think you will have to use a Virtual Machine. Awhile I don't approve of violating any copyrights, I disapprove of inserting copy protection into specific electronic parts and having to deal with them about a decade later without any third-party support for the rest of us. I wish I knew what kind of computer you are using, I am guessing that it is a Intel type computer because you mention Alcohol. I dont know what OS you are using. I am only knowing Alcohol only in passing. With the right software, you can run the software right off your computer. Quite a few times I have downloaded stuff that ended up being corrupted. You then download it again and try it again. As for the last question, I leave it as a exercise for the informed reader. If you don't know, maybe you should not be downloading unknown software from the Internet.

Spk6543- go buy a Rave CD off of Ebay. That is your best bet, downloading random software is not the best idea!

So has anyone here downloaded this .iso from the green-oval website then?
Adam, Im using windowsXP. I tried to burn an image of the ISO with nero and with alcohol120. Both programs say the burn is a success but windows explorer cant see anything actually burned to the disc. I have also tried to mount the iso with daemon tools, and alcohol. Im new to this iso stuff so I may not be doing it right here? Do I need to extract it or something? Is there some sort of copy-protection on this thing? Should I even waste time on this thing? I have the workshop manual in paperback already. Does the raveCD contain the same information or better? Thanks for any help. Ok I downloaded it again but this time I chose "save target as" instead of just left clicking the link. All is well now. Nero burned image just fine. Lots more info than just the workshop manual. Thanks Adam for the link. Last edited by spk6543 : 10-15-2006 at 02:56 PM. |
