Default Lift is finished... as well as new shocks

I have to say this is some real improvement. My first clue was when I took the old shocks off I compressed them with one hand.

I really wanted to document the swap with many pics but once I started as always I get my mind of doing the work instead of taking pics.

The pre lift measurements to the arch of the fender was 35 inches and post lift was 36 1/4 inch. I already had a 2 inch lift with spacers and a little sag off the original springs.

I really like the set up... I have not felt this comfortable since I bought the Rover. Great ride on and off road.

This is a larger pic of the side view... with 235/85/16s I have pretty good clearance all around and it sits real level.

This is my first dumb ass move... If you notice the upper spring seat is missing something. Yeah, I left off the shock mount seat that sits above the spring... needless to say I had to remove the spring and replace it. Nothing like doing it twice to give you good practice. ha

A word to the wise, make sure you test how much flex you can get before your standard brake hoses become a limiting factor - possibly a ripping out one too if you go too far!!!

Bought the welder this weekend after finishing the lift. Hobart 180...

Nice little mig welder. I wont be welding anything over 1/4 inch so it should allow me plenty of room to work.

The front bumper is a must... I have seen plenty of custom jobs I like and modeling a new bumber from those should not be too difficult. Next weekend I am going to start the roof rack. Getting started is the hardest part. Plan on making out of EMT 1 inch conduit. I am sure i will have to experiment some... if I can not get it looking good I wont put in on. Lots of planning and lay out before I start bending pipe.

Like most projects I am sure I will start with a basic design and build off that for light mounts front and real. Still working on the flooring.

I did not waste any time loading it down after the lift was finished. 10 bags of 50lbs corn and standing on the spare did not squat it down much at all.

You are absolutely right!!! At full articulation I am going pretty tight on the brake lines. I am taking it easy for now.

It is almost due for a brake job... I figured if I start the brake job I will certainly replace those lines.

Good looking truck... I also really like that color! The ones in that color that I see around here are faded all to hell, but that looks like it is in great shape! Congrats on the new suspension.

Thanks Badger.

I use common dust as a sun protector. I wash it ever so often and its paint has no fade that I have noticed. I am lucky thus far. I hate hand washing it because I always seem to find another door ding.
