Howdy,
Just in case this has not been posted, I thought some of you might like to upgrade your existing interior lights with LED replacements from this awesome company I found... it actually worked great on my dash lights for a toyo landcruiser I had, and I am going to get some for my SIII 88". If you are curious check out Super Bright LEDs Hope this can be useful to someone ![]() |

Hi there from NYC.
I have a 1996 Discovery 1. I have replaced the exterior running lights and the rear brake lights with LED replacements with little problems. LED lights not broken in by any vendor have a short life and die suddenly. Ask the vendor for any prior breakin/burnin. These lights operate with a suggested lifetime of 5 to 10 years with a slight dimmimg later in their operating life. Every six months the percepted brightness on the newer LEDs doubles. Ask for a sample or purchase one to see if the brightness is suitable enough for your needs. By the way, I replaced the small bulbs inside the Land Rover headlights with LED replacements. The heat inside from the H4s nor from the present HIDs did not affect the bulbs in any way.

Adam, thanks for the info
I was looking to get some newer lights for my dash because I can barely see the speedo at night. I figured I would give it a try; lots of the LED lights are cheap on the site as well!Funrover, glad that you found it useful. I think I'll take some photos of this little endeavor... and share the experience ![]() |

I had ordered the replacement bulbs via eBay but that was my decision.
The point I really wanted to make was about perceived color and brightness. Expect the primary colors to be quite bright (red, blue, especially yellow is BRIGHT). The white lights are blue with a phosper to go white are now not as bright but please check out the new pocket keychain lights from Varity (@ Radio Shack)or Princeton Graphic Photon 2s. Those are blinding and cheap. Give the manufacturers a quarter until you see those NEW LEDs. LED headlights will be practical by the end of 2007.
