The Landrover is a lond wheeled base pick-up so I was hoping to mount them on the pick-up section's aluminium roof. They don't need to be too bright - just enough to create a decent working space around the vehicle.

You would probably be happy with a pair of Hella Matador work lights. They are durable, bright, have their own switches on the body, and are inexpensive.
