Hi,
Been reading this forum for a few weeks, and have had my 1992 disco 200tdi for a few weeks, but I crashed it and have only just had it back, and need some advice regarding fitting rear speakers to the car. I have had a new cheapo sony CD/MP3 player fitted, which is wired up to the only speakers I have in the car which are the original tiny speakers in the front doors. Well I have some new speakers I want to fit, two front and two rear, but being technically challenged have no clue where to fit them as they are too big to realistically fit in the doors. I guess my main question is are there wires in the car already for rear speakers, and where should I fit the speakers, also is it a difficult job. The front speakers are 6 inch round ones, 3 way, and the rear are 6x9 inch 4 way speakers. Anyway i've gone on a bit and not said much but just wanted to say hi and hope someone has some advice (probably go to a garage and get them fitted by someone with a brain haha) Cheers, Jon. |

welcome to the forum!
you will find a wealth of information here i think will be helpful. first of all, the search function at the top will most likely turn up lots of threads on speakers and installs, always try searching first. if your Disco is anything like mine, it has stock 4" all around. not sure if it is or not, but someone will chime in about the 92 year model. if thats the case, 6" probably wont fit up front due to the door handle being in the way. yeah, 6x9s would fit on the rear pillars with some work, but i would go with 5.25 or 6.5 at the largest. one more piece of advice...take it to a shop that knows what they are doing, tell them what you want, and let them do it. sure it costs a little more in the end, but Land Rovers can get kinda complicated when it comes to the factory sound system and the built in amps and stuff like that. but thats just my .02. good luck! ![]()
