I just installed rock sliders on my 97 D1(2" lift with 265/75/16 MT's on 8"black steelies).Anyway when I turn the front tires come close(1") to rubbing on (front edge) of sliders.Thinking that when off road during any articulation with wheels turned that there could rubbing(or worse)(big knobby treads).Sliders came off another 97 D1(XD) but I"m sure didn't have tire/wheel combo I have.Guess I need to take it out and give it a go but was seeing if anyone else has similar experience. When I went to that(tire/wheel) set up I knew I would have to trim my rear wheel wells because of all the feedback of those that similar scenario.Didn't hear much about modifying sliders as well.

Are the ends of the sliders squared off or cut at an angle to blend with the curve of the wheel well?

They are square but have a little angle to them.Looked all over slider before install to try and determine manufacturer(previous owner said they were on vehicle when he acquired).Since(wheels off set 4.25/wider tires) they(sliders) look like they need to be shortened(1") and angled more as well.No problems just driving around street(purposely hit speed bumps and curbs to see if rub).Don't want to get in extreme situation(because I will!) and have the tires try and roll up the sliders and tear the bottom portion of my vehicle off.Anyway, always something.Trying to get ready for National Rally(Leadville) and adding some body protection.

Thanks,I was hoping for some positive re-enforcement.When it is parked and wheels are turned slightly,it just has the appearance that there is no way it won't rub.I did have to modify the original plastic guard or sill(cut the ends off at angle).Tires sounded like helicopter(rubbing) after I had the 8" steelies mounted(not a problem with same size tires on 7" OEM alloys).

If they rub, a saws-all will fix it quickly and they just weld on new end caps.

my sliders needed to be trimmed 1.5 inches when I went from stock alloys 285/75 to 15x8 steel wheels and 35x12.5 with 4.25 backspacing. Of course they were touching when I turned the wheel on flat ground.
I also did the flexi 50mm flares at the same time, so they had to be trimmed to be even with the new wheel opening.
