Newbie in Need of Suggestions
Hi Everyone
I've recently bought a 1995 Disco V8i ES and think it's great!
So far the only electrical malfunction was the cruise control - turned out to be a split vacuum hose, so cost a few cents to fix. The only other issue was that the top hose sprung a leak - the car didn''t overheat, but made a lot of steam. The main issue with this was the price of a new top hose - NZ$160!!!!!!
Otherwise, the car's great - no rust, everything works, engine sounds and runs great.
So, now I want to customise. One thing I need is a rearview camera so I don't back into stuff. I'm also wanting to do some semi-serious off-roading. As it stands, the car is as it was when it left Birmingham - it even still has the Land Rover branded radio/cassette and 6 CD stacker!
So over to you - I want to use the car on-road, but add the ability to get off-road too. In order of "bang for buck", what should I do first???

Make sure you rebuild or replace your front drive shaft with greasable U-Joints!

Always tyres first.
Then protection from the things you will hit. Front bar, rear bar, side bars.
Then winch in case you get stuck.
Then lockers so you won't get stuck as easily.
Actually plan on how much of a lift you want, the necessary parts, coils, shocks, drive lines, brake lines and all the other stuff you will need, Check out RTE for a good list of mods.
Then install the lift then the tires, sliders diff guards, bumpers and maybe a winch.
Actually before doing any of this, you should consider doing a major full service of all fluids and tune related stuff.
