Default Next on the List are 'SLIDERS'

Just got off the phone with 4wparts.
Five - 265-75 -16 BFG MUD T's are on the way. I also ordered the adapter for the spare from Atlantic British. Since the 16" Wheels are in the basement we are ready for the next item on the list.

SLIDERS.

I did complete a forum search and found a little info.
- Currently I think I'm leaning with Rovertym's Nurf style.
- It looks like Safari Guard's are easy to instal, but they are not my favorite company to support.

As before I appreciate your feedback & experience. (& the $$ saved ) What do ya'll suggest? (I would like to install them myself)

Looking for your comments.
Michael

Do a search on dweb about sliders for a Disco. I can't remember the guy's name but he made some that looked sick! They were about $400 and were tougher than RTE. If you can't find the thread PM me tomorrow and I will look for his name for you. Another option is MoFab...they are pretty sick too! Contact MOSES on here or I think I might have a link to his site below.

RTE all the way. Some people here hate SG bashing, but they just flat out suck. If you bought thier sliders now, you might not see them for 2 months.

Im going RTE (if I dont build them myself), but im going to have them add frame supports to resist the twisting motion that ive seen on some of them. Because of the nerf, they are more likely to twist if you come down on them really hard. I think they have a few week wait right now, but RTE is the way to go, no doubt.

My comment was not needed, (But based on my experiences)
Anyway it's No Problem, one of the reasons I prefer LRO is because it is generally positive.

I would recommend Safari Gard since they can hold air and they are built very strong, but they simply take WAY TOO LONG to git r dun. Rovertym is very high quality and the way they mount is more secure. Rovertym also offers nerfs and the step plate which makes a great Hi-Lift base when in the mud. So, I would highly reccomend Rovertym. Unfortunately, you will have to spend about $700 to get them. If you can wait two weeks, I may be able to recommend someone to build your sliders. He custom makes sliders with nerfs very similar to Rovertym's style. He can rhino coat them as well and custom make a step plate to your specs. I currently have on order, a set of DII sliders with nerfs, rhino lined with a 18" x 12" chain plate step plate. I got all of this for well under Rovertym prices. I will receive these sliders in a few weeks and will post back and let you know the status. He turns out 1 set per week, and I'm his first order. He is on DiscoWeb under the name nateb006. Very friendly guy and easy to work with. Here are some pics of the ones he made for his truck.

If you want a strong slider, similiar th SC or the last post above this, go to Slick rock, they are so much stronger then SC's.
I was on one trip where two truck buckeled their SC sliders and one truck couldn't open his driverd door because of the bad bend in the SC slider.

Yes, I agree, slickrock makes some nice sliders....and they wont do that twisting thing.

As far as RTE sliders being $$$....they are priced at $490......extra stuff will cost you more; $490 includes the nerf in either square or tube style.

About the SG bashing, it wasnt you that was bashing, it was me

I have thought about the sliders being used to hold oil or water or air, but I have decided that its not worth risking anything by using a piece of armor....designed to be bashed, as something to hold anything volatile or under pressure. There are safer and easily ways to do that.

I don't bash anything, too often, unless they deserve it and boy SC doe deserve it, they make good looking products out of cheap material and charge a fortune for it.
That's just my option .

Lets be honest. He's loooking for protection for a modest off-road vehicle. And don't get me wrong, there are dumb people out there. But when you only have a 2 or 3 inch lift, you know to drive carefully and strategically. You don't drive recklessly, that's what j**p owners are there for. You can easily avoid 95% of slider or door sill damage by driving like you know what you're doing. I have been without sliders for months and have been on trails at Tellico (VERY ROCKY), where driving carefully will get you home without a scratch, but if you drive crazy and carelessly, you bet your ass you will end up like a teeter-totter on a boulder hidden on the other side of a hill. I would say that Rovertym Sliders are plenty for you unless you plan on driving crazy. After all, we go off-roading for the thrill and thought process involved. Not for the purpose of flying through mud holes and hanging our heads out the doors like idiots while we drive straight into rocks.

THINK, MY SON LOVED YOUR COMMENT

Here what I have gathered thus far.

Since money is not in abundance, I am not in a huge rush, so something custom may work (ie., Moses, I am waiting an email reply, or nateb006 on DiscoWeb, whom I still will contact).

Otherwise it looks like I need to decide to Nerf or not to nerf.

If I go with the nerf look then Rovertym, if not then Slickrock.

Well consider this. A nerf will protect all those stray limbs and rocks that like to pop up and hit your car while off road. When on road, it prevents shopping carts. It will also provide a good step for your family members who now struggle to get in your car. Its also very helpful when strapping some luggage or camping stuff up top... Or hooking up those 4k Hellas on top of the roof rack.

Wasn't trying to be a smart ass with my previous post, but I wasn't too sure how you landed such a deal. Also, that price has been like that for atleast 4 months if not longer.
