Default Roof Rack light problem?

Hoping to hear from someone who has had a similar issue. I reinstalled my rack and put the lights back on yesterday. The work lamp on the rear is new and I decided to wire it to the dome light circuit, so it would come on with the rear door opened but time out and go off on it's own. It worked as expected. While rigging up my front lights it all went OK but I did blow my inline fuses once by messing up something with my relays. Sorted that out, but then disassembled my harness to make new ones with heavier wire. Now the problem is my dome light will not go out. The only way to shut them off is to pull the 20 amp trailer harness fuse. I did unhook the work lamp to check that but they are stuck on. Any ideas? I am not an electrical whiz but I can get by. I am guessing a short somewhere connected to that fuse but I was hoping by some chance someone here would have experienced something like it. This is one of those well behaved D1's where everything is still in perfect working order so this is freaking me out a little.

You should have used the dome light trigger only to power the relay and nothing more and ran your own power feed from somewhere else. I would check to see where you tagged in to see that something didnt get pinched and is keeping the circuit hot 24/7.... Does anyone know if the dome light circuit is ran trough the BCM? If you remove where ever you tagged into the car, not just disconnecting the light, and you still have the issue, my guess is you damaged something in the car...

I never thought about using a relay on the work lamp because it is not very powerful. But I will check all that wiring out and if it resumes working bring in the power from somewhere else. It did work like a charm for a while so maybe something cooked.

If I was you, I would remove the wire completely (hopefully problem goes away), pull trigger from the dome light, run your own power source directly from the battery for all your lights, FUSE IT for the correct amount of draw, and call it a day.

I dont know if your dome light circuit is part of the bcm or not.

The dome lights are in the D1 are controlled by the Multi Function Unit (MFU).
Let's ask a simple question, are you sure you don't have a switch left on?
Yes, you should have used a relay, the courtesy light circuit is not speced for adding exterior light.
I'm also not sure if the D1 interior light fade out (like a D2) or just turn off with the doors.
One other consideration, if you work on LR electrical systems or work with the RAVE manual at all you will realize that the switched side in negative. In otherwords, you are not removing power from the circuit, you are removing the return path (ground). You may very well be back feeding through your added light.

yeah on the D1 they go out after a few seconds. I would just wire all Extra lights or what ever acessories you have to the battery with proper wire, fuses and switches to handle the power demand to the accesorie at hand
