I have the 3-link and off road it is awesome when it comes to the amount of flex you gain. On road it's descent. I drive 80 miles a day everyday on the highway. I have no problems, but for someone that has never driven my truck it can be scary.
Not sure what you mean by how tough it is though. Install? |

I wonder how hard it would be to make one.

Now you are thinking like me........ I helped do one for a Jeep... and I have completely designed a set(front and rear) for my RRC and my buddies disco.. I am just waiting for the $$$$ now....... Kinda a pricey venture..... by the time you buy the steel, DOM pipe, and heim joints you are out a lot of cash! |

Zach, you will not have to get different shock mounts. You will have to cut off the mounts for your front sway bar off the axle housing. Hopefully you can do the install on a lift. It will be a real bear to do it on the ground. The install is pretty straight forward. You will need to buy the cross member from Safari Gard and before you start the install make sure you have ALL of the parts. On more than one occasion I have been shipped incomplete orders. Mary will overnight anything missing though. I will say this about shocks though... If you don't have long travel shocks, the 3-Link is not that beneficial until you do get long travel shocks.
Good luck! |

We have a 3 link on our Rangie and are very happy with it on and off road.
The key to a 3 link is long travel shocks and correct valved shocks. Ours has Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir 10in. shocks (Regretfully, did not go with the 14in. but it's on the list) - valving is 360/80. I'm told it's the best mod he has done to the truck other than, the ARB locker. Our truck handles better at higher speeds than before the 3 link. And the flex that it can get now is way too sexy. As far as the install, I remember, it took them a good deal of time and lots of cussing and beer were involved. I have some pictures, I added a couple. Melissa |
