Question Shock Questions

So I'm still hunting down different suspension components, as I'm still riding around on the worn stock suspension. I already have my mind set on Scorpion Racing's many components like Springs, and the Evo Kit. As far as shocks go, however, I can't seem to make up my mind. I mainly roam around muddy areas in South Florida but do get to flex further north in Central and Northern Florida ruts. Definately not happy with the worn suspension! Looking for something reliable, rebuildable, and with a descent amount of travel.

Options:
  • Fox - Emulsion
  • Bilstein - 6100/7100 series
  • OME - LTR shocks
  • Scorpion Racing - ORAM shocks
  • Equipe - if any are available outside of the kits.

I'm really liking those Fox shocks! Where would one be able to get those BESIDES SafariGard?

JC - I like the SR ones only based upon what little I have seen of them in action on a '72 bobbed rangie with a SR 6" lift. But I think I would go with the Bilsteins. I have OME right now and they are nothing special. Don't get me wrong....they are a million times better than stock.

Thanks Steve...

As for SR, I know John has the Extreme Kit (with the custom SR long travel shocks) on his truck. I spoke to Adrian earlier this year and he was telling me that there was LIGHT modification underneath the hood. If my memory serves me right it had something to do with the shock tower making contact with some intake components, being that the kit was mainly designed for the TDi models. I dont mind modification but I dont think I want to pass the 2.5" height. If SR makes something I can bolt up to stock locations or dropped towers, I'd be more than happy to give 4x4AG some more of my money...lol

The Fabtech Dirt Logics are a nice alternative. They are made by Fox Racing. They're just as bling as the Fox's.

Last time I talked to Fabtech, they weren't making them short enough to fit a Disco. Do you have some specs on those?

The 2.0 is Identicle to the Fox Shocks I have minus the 8-way adjustability. 8-14 inch shocks.

No problem. They released these right after I had gotten my Fox. I would have probably gotten them over the Fox.

If you don't want to go above 2.5in go with the following set up. Simple, and solid set up.

RTE 2in springs
OME shocks

If your not going above 2in there is no reason to get the bling bling fox/bilstein shocks. OME's are solid and work well for the disco.

I have been through more suspension set-ups than I care to admit. The best setup by far (in my humble opinion) would be RTE 3" springs w/ Fox 2.0 shocks. Gordon at http://www.inlandrovers.com/ has the valving dialed in which can save you a lot of hassle.
Good luck.

My Bro has the GBR OME 3" springs with the bilstein 7100 remote resevoirs. I believe 10" front and 12" rear. It is awesome. I can't remember the exact valving, but i know it is the heaviest.
