Default skid plate

I am wanting to build a skid plate for my rover! I was playing on some rocks today, and decided that a skid plate is a must for rocks! I want to cover as much as possible. I need ideas, maybe even a pic or two. Thx

No you don't, all they do is get in the way, especially when you are trying to do maintance. Do a good set of diff guards and some sliders and you will be in good shape.

They are called bash plates as that is all they do (bash things). I have one protecting the front steering arm and parnhard rod, but I got it for nothing. Don't know whether I would bother again if something happened to it.

I was wanting to protect my transmission, I am not so much worried about the diffs or the steering assembly. I noticed I drag the middle more than anything!

You have it backwards, you need to be more concerned with the diffs first, sliders second and don't worry about the tranny, if you are hitting it you need to improve the lines you are picking on the trail. As for the steering, Rovers want to run warm on summer trail runs, throw a full plate across the front and it will get hot and it is harder then hell to work on the truck with all the front plating.
I play plenty hard with my truck, I have never hit the gas tank or the tranny and only bent one tie rod that was then straightened.
Don't add the weight and money to something you don't really need.
