It also goes without saying that if you're in so deep that you have a bow wake coming up over the top of the hood, don't run the blower, but close the outside air vents.

Ah, brilliant.. and common physics. thanks for the tip

Pete; Don't get too sensitive, or defensive. Everyone has their own opinion. You know Tonka has a Mantec, and it's not just powder coated, it's color matched, as well. And it has a couple of rust spots coming through after three years. But at least it's inside the fender and doesn't look like a damned leach stuck to the side of my truck. Or look like cheap plastic on a 42000 dollar suv. To each their own. One thing though, from a mechanical standpoint, the position of the intake head doesn't mean shit. You're not creating a ram-air effect by having a forward facing scoop, and in Florida hurricane season rains; you're only asking to swallow water when driving long distances.

I had a school of guppies in my floor boards after one water adventure. I had the windows closed and the fan was running but, I think I have enough air leaks in the rover that it would take a 48" shop fan to produce an over pressure in my rig

As far as the vortex created in the mantec snorkle I have seen that in action on Army Hummers we have clear ones on our air intake so we can see when it is time to empty them. I was amazed at the amount of crap that was captured in there.

Default 4x4 exchange

Hi,

Could you help me out, I did a google search for 4x4 exchange with no luck. I am looking for a mantec or southdown. ( now if it is 4x4ag, it seems they never answer the phone *LOL* )
Thanks in advance

Someone school me as to how much deeper a snorkel allows a gas powered rover to go. I've removed my intake horn on my air cleaner box and replaced it with a 3" 90degree elbow turned upwards. I've waded my D1 in water to the hood with a bow wake but never had issues with the water making it to the mass air flow. Truly on a gas motor how much deeper will a snorkel allow you to wade. If you go over the hood for too long or stop even with a snorkel won't your electronics fail. Snorkels look fine, don't get me wrong but will this truly fix the issue? Best of luck finding one but I am curious about actual function.
