Yep go here...

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/norcalrovers/

Membership requires approval, which is nothing but 5 quick questions:

1) NAME (Last, First)
2) WHAT YEAR/MODEL LAND ROVER DO YOU OWN?
3) DO YOU OFFROAD YOUR ROVER?
4) WHAT CITY DO YOU LIVE IN?
5) WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA 4-WHEELING SPOT

Like Jay mentioned were a very active group of northern California off road enthusiast. Skill levels range from never been before to been just about everywhere… vehicles range from bone stock to wildly modified… but one thing is constant were a friendly and considerate group who are there to offer up suggestions and help when asked. Come join the Yahoo group if you’re interested in wheeling with us!

Default 2 things

So 2 things...

1. If anyone is serious about expedition style off-roading, this coming weekend March 5 and 6th we will be heading down to Anza Borrego. Email me at tdeckowski@yahoo.com if you want to come or have questions.

2. Besides the local dealer in San Jose, what are some close independant LR service shops?? I need some minor work and don't want to get robbed.

Take care,
Tom

I have had good luck with Jaguar Purrformance in Los Gatos. Rick is the owner and he is a nice guy and knowledgeable in Rover's. Also West Coast British in Livermore is great, but I live in Los Gatos so I have ised JP in the past.

New to the forum, located in Marin in the north bay.

The norcalrovers yahoo group is good. I've done two Mojave Road trips with folks I have met on there.

As far as where to go, the Mendocino Nat'l Forest is great. I'll dig up a link to the FS info. and post it here.

Update: O.k., here's the link to the USFS site. You can navigate from here and get maps of teh orv areas and other info.
