Default San Diego Daytrip to Anza Borrego W/PICS 56K warning. 2-11-06

Sup You Guys,
Went on a great day trip yesterday.
Went out the Eight Freeway to Ocotillo, Ca. (76 Station)
Then Headed North up the S-2. (About 20Mi)
Stopped for a View at The Carrizo Badlands Overlook.
Before Hitting the Trail. (Canyon Sir Nombre) Easy!

Stopped for two hours for a nice Lunch and relaxation in a WindCave (22 In Area)
Headed out for some trail action.

Explored the areas trails (All Easy)
Took a bunch of Pics, and I brought another Guy from the Forum too.

So we had Two Discos and Tow Jeeps. All the Tools and plenty of gear.

We headed up Vallicito Wash (Butterfield Stage Route) Easy
Past the Hollywood @ Vine Sign.
Chuck HAD to climb the Hill in his Disco and Touch The Sign.

Had a great time took 14 people in all inc. 5 Kids under Nine Yo. (Three of em were under 2 Years old.)

Drove out Vallicito Wash at Sunset. Had to get the Shots of the Moon Rising on our Rigs.

Next Time You Should Come Too!

Nice dude. Looks like it was a great family outing. I love taking my boys - ages 4, 6, & 11 - out with me. In fact, if I go thru a puddle and come home with a wee bit of mud on the truck, they get mad at me thinking I went offroading without them! Pics look great! Keep it up!

Anza Berrego is a lot of fun. I used to traverse Coyote Canyon every year until it was closed at the Middle Willows. Have to protect the bighorn sheep you know. The Hemet Jeep Club had an annual trip through that canyon. We left from Hemet and went through the canyon and ended up in Berrego Springs. Depending on the winter's rainfall the canyon can be a good fun trip or a 4 wheeling nightmare. Anymoe you can only go half way down and then you have to turn around and leave the way you got in. Not always the easiest thing to do.
Around April 1, there is the Pegleg Smith Lair's Contest at the Pegleg Smith monument. Yep! I've been in it before. Lots of fun and the stories are amazing. The story has to be about Pegleg and his lost gold mine. Man, there's been some real whoppers told out there. You might be able to find information about the Lair's Contest on the official Anza-Berrego web site
