I would love to if anyone ventures out into the Mojave... as soon as I get my truck back together.
When I am in California (frequently) I am literally half a mile from Joshua Tree NP, about 20 minutes from Johnson Valley, and 45 from Big Bear. We should put together a "LRO" trip. I'll have a lift and tires to test out come April...
My name speaks for me re "Mojave" ... I am very familiar with the Jawbone, Redrock, Last Chance Canyon, Nightmare Gulch, Dove Springs, Pinnacles, McGivers, Randsburg areas. Don't miss the Jawbone Canyon store when the Joe Wall Band is playing ... sort of like a mini Woodstock for all things dirty (bikes, trikes, quads, Rhinos, Jeeps, sand rails, rock crawlers, occasional Rovers, etc,

Hungry Valley SVRA is the second largest unit of California State Park's Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. Located in the Tejon Pass north of Los Angeles and along the Interstate 5 corridor, Hungry Valley offers 19,000 acres and over 130 miles of scenic trails for motorcycle, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV), dune buggies, and 4x4 recreation. All levels of Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) operator skills will be challenged by the wide variety of terrain and trails at Hungry Valley SVRA.
Above from their web site ... I have been going there for 30 yrs. They even have a 4wd test track open to the public. Immediately adjacent is Piru Creek & Alamo Mtn & the infamous case bustin Miller Jeep Trail. Just to the north is Frazer with lots of 4wd roads in thick pine forests ... ez stuf for a stock vehicle except when the snow is deep. Another killer trail is from Lockwood Creek, via rerouted Snowy Trail, up Miller Jeep, & down Alamo Mtn. This trip is best with a hard core rock crawler. Further west is Ballinger Canyon off HiWay 33 above Ojai. Maps available from the park ranger at the HG SVRA or Google on any of the areas.
