ROAV- they host the largest Land Rover event in the USA every fall. They have a big meeting this weekend, Spring Rally coming up in a few months and there's some talk about doing monthly meets etc.

I too am interested in this now that the weather has picked up. I'm new to Discovery ownership, the wife and I got our 1st in December '06. We would like to get involved in light off roading with the aim of fun, getting to know the car, see the great outdoors, meet people etc etc. I've been looking on the internet for stuff to do but most of it would appear to require experience and huge wheels, ground clearance etc - ours is a commuter-mobile primarily
I've just registered with ROAV so hoping to see something in the not too distant future.
Does anybody on here have any recommendations of somewhere in VA we could go on our own in the meantime - somewhere we could off road legally but doesn't include ascending boulders and having a winch fitted? We are near Staunton, VA.
George Washington Nat'l Forest has some trails. Been a couple of years since I went there but we used to take people with stock trucks to Woodstock Tower and run Tasker's Gap and Peter's Mill trails in that area. Right near you-
Both are easy, but sometimes a little mud can make 'em extra fun.

Crabtree Falls / Shoe Creek is also a good trail for stockish trucks. Great scenery. We just did a big trip up there, including some stock rigs, in mid-January.

Thanks,

I'm in Staunton,VA as well. There are many forest road type trails west of Harrisonburg in the GWNF...

Hi! I wonder if I've seen you in passing. I spoke to the Harrisonburg forestry people and got links to their website. I think everything is closed until 19th March but looking forward to trying it out after then - and when it warms up a bit. If you head up there, please PM me.
Hi Jason, I got the black '03 in Waynesboro, we could meet up one day and I'll show you a few easy trails.

Hey guys, just an FYI, me and my buddy are currently out of the country. We live in Northern VA. We ll try to organize a get together of all rover enthusiasts in the area some time in May. Hopefully we can do a kilt/rover night at one of the pubs or bars in the area. Let me know what you guys think.

We're in Waynesboro too. Does yours have the black alloys? There's a surprising number of them round here; I regularly see a burgundy SE and silver ?? that looks set up for off roading. Would be happy to meet up one weekend and go for a play.
I've seen the Disco w/ black alloys running around, but that's not me. I have an SE w/ the stock 18"s, tan interior and a black TJM front bumper. There was two Disco's in W'boro last year and now there all over the place.
