Default CHARLOTTE, NC Sightings

Thought it would be neat for people who are in Charlotte or the surrounding area to speak out when they see some people.

Thursday 6/7/07 I spotted an XD Discovery I and also a Dark Gray DII in Huntersville off Exit 23 at the waffle house / Oil shop.

About a month ago i saw a G4 Discovery off of Highway 51 in-front of the hospital.

We will see how this thread goes

The G4 would be me. I see DII all the time but they usually look blankly at me when I wave and flash my lights. Oh well. Saw a kid in Ballantyne with a nice D90 the other day...didn't even notice me. We should have a get together sometime soon here in charlotte. The triumph group I loosely follow meets once a week at Big Ben. That would be a fitting place to meet...and the food and beer are excellent. Anyway...howdy to everyone in Charlotte. If anyone is heading out to Uwharrie hollar.

Cheers, Josh

Damn sure going to try. WE missed the safari because things were just way too busy for us the weeks around it. We spent the weekend at uwharrie this weekend. Went with a bunch of friends from work...all jeeps. It was a lot of fun and they were amazed that I could go everywhere their seriously built rubicons could get. That is everywhere but Kodak rock. I didn't even attempt that.

Cheers, Josh

For the most part I'm inconspicuously there and about in the DII....

Though every now and again I can be spotted out impleading traffic in the series...... So if ya'll find yourself held-up behind a 109sw "that be me."

Cheers
Dave

haha, Last year at URE3 we had a great time and went everywhere including Kodak and that's where the fun ended. I tried to go up the middle line and got stuck between some rocks and bashed in the front diff. We made it home with some metal on metal noise coming from the ring gear on the housing for about two hundred miles and it finally wore down and quit. I'll be prepared this year

I second that question. How good is Land Rover Charlotte? I have some warranty items I'd like taken care of so it needs to go to a dealer I guess.

We ran out of time and didn't go on every trail I wanted to. I took the far left line up Kodak and then parked and watched my buddies play around for way too long on the rock. I really need to get out with some other experienced rover people. It is hard to get comfortable with the DII when I have nothing to compare it too. I need to figure out where the limits are. Good news is...the limits are way past most of the jeeps i've been with. Lets get some people together for a few drinks or dinner sometime soon. Dave, I'd really like to check out the 109.

Cheers, Josh

WOAH!!! stay away from Land Rover of Charlotte. The guy i go to has worked on rovers for years. He had to pull 3 rovers from land rover of charlotte just this last week alone, because they broke it or they did not know what to do. One guy pulled in his RR with a transmission problem.... after the mechanic test drove it, the trans broke and could not be driven.

This guy i go to (known him for years and his parents go to my church) is Dale Gregory he owns an Indy shop off of highway 115 in Huntersville. Its called Auto Works Unlimited. Great guy, worked for hummer i know (which got a lot of LR attention) and knows rovers inside and out. he has a T4 test book and is looking at purchasing Rovacom.

He comes highly recomended from me and many others, give him a call at 704-875-2929. He can get kinda busy but let him Scott said hey.

By the way if you MUST take your rover to a dealer (like what i might have to do) he says that Land Rover of Greensboro is top notch

Basically LR of Charlotte has a couple of guys that are offering to buy peoples car from them before they work on them (really nice cars some of which have some rare parts if you can see where im going with this) and then really F them up then say ok my offer still stands just minus a couple thousand. So until these guys get fired stay away. Let me know if anyone needs help on a rover (ill try what little i can) or help finding Dales shop.

Sounds like you confirmed my bad feelings about land rover Charlotte. I need to take it somewhere that will handle warranty claims though. Looks like I'll be dropping it off in Greensboro or Raleigh for a week. Anyone up for getting together sometime? I would really love to spend some time looking at everybody's rigs.

Cheers, Josh
