Default Georgia, HERE I COME!

Well, its official,

I'm movin to Georgia in April/May...the fam bought a house in Lawrenceville. I was there all this weekend since Wednesday and My GOD do I love it! I was havin a tantrum being in such a wonderful state with no truck or bike to traverse such terrain! Can't wait to meet you folks from the area. I did see a Yellow 90 and a modded green Disco. Does it belong to anyone fro here? (see attachment).

But yeah, we were lookin at houses all of Friday and Saturday morning and decided that the Bowen homes were ideal and the area the subdivision is in is fantastic! I'll be living with my sister at this house for about a year and then move into a place of my own! Incradably HUGE houses for insanely low prices! A 3/2 house down here is going to almost twice as much as a 2 story, 4 BD, 2-1/2BT, Basement, Garaged house up there! Everything was so much cheaper. I snuck out of the house we rented for the week, with a buddy of mine to grab some late night munchees...went to Walmart, bought TWO 2L Pepsis, an oven Pizza, chips, dip, 2 bags of Ice, and cups for a total of like 8 dollars and 40-something cents! AMAZING!

I'm stoked!

Just a little advice on GA homes. The reason they are so cheap is because, most of them are cheaply built. About 90% are on slabs, too.

I don't know what you're coming from or what you had in the past. But, look out for the cheap shit the builders use down there. Also, be aware that this area of GA has a termite problem.

Pay particular attention to windows, trim, roofing, and insulation. For what ever reason, a lot of homes there have gas logs. Look at the brands and the quality of the fire boxes. They use some shady stuff down there. Also, since you're a disco owner, pay attention to the garage doors and the size of the garage. Down there, it seem a 6.5" door is standard. You'll never get your truck in. Also, a lot of the garage say "double", but you'll be lucky to get one car in there and be able to open the door. Stupid.

Haha, I was just replying over on Dweb...

Thanks for the advice, yeah we did a little research and while my sister wanted an older house with a large backyard, my bro in law decided to go with a brand new house from a what seems to be respectable builder - Bowen Family Homes.

As for the garage, the model we purchased is DEFINATELY a two car..the thing is huge, BUT, you are right about the doors, I'm never gettin my truck in there. I'm gonna hate to stain the lightly colored driveway.

I'll only be living with my sister there for a little more than a year anyway, after that, I'm on my own. I'd like to eventually make it to CO but if I do say in the east, I'll look outside of the burbs for some land and just build my house.
