Default New England gathering??

Anyone interested in arranging a New England gathering? I recently purchaed my LR3 and VERY anxious to get it off the typical beaten path. Anyone know of good places to go in New Enlgand? I moved to CT from Cali a year ago. Would love to arrange either a beach (if there are any out here you can drive on!) or mountain trip if anyone is interested in meeting up?? Or if you have any suggestions on places to go would love to hear them!!

Thanks!
Melissa

(Also my Saint Bernard would thank you if you know of any pet friendly areas that are very light terrain)

SNHLR - Southern New Hampshire Land Rovers

That's a local club based out of New Hampshire, they we're really active about a year ago but seem to be losing some steam. All in all a good group, I miss wheeling up there in new england with them.

I'd like to get a group together too. I just know of any good "legal" places to go. Plus I can't seem to keep my RRC running long enough to go wheeling.

good luck finding a good place that is legal, enviromentalist run the NE. Don't get me wrong, I like to preserve nature myself, but I like to enjoy nature by drive to cool places.....

There is a good legal place to wheel near Clinton in Deep River.... I could get you all directions if you want. Land Rover Guilford does great events there and wheeling there is fun and I'm pretty sure it's legal! Its got some good challenging stuff that we used to take stock LR3's down, and honestly it can be pretty intense..... As far as illegal spots, there's a place called the 100 acre forest that is incredible, just dont get caught. Most of the places I know of are in Clinton. But if you find powerlines there are usually pretty good trails beneath them.....

You might enjoy this event.
Deer Lake Rally

It's not that far away for you, but I would suggest you only tackle the easy trails. The tough ones were challenging enough for the purpose built trucks.

Default Thanks!!

Thanks for the ideas =) I think I'm gonna give the Deer Lake Rally a shot it sounds like fun!

Anyone interested in meeting up over the next month to stretch their legs before snow duty? I'll have to get the first scratch over and done with at some point!

I also thought you can drive on Cape Cod beaches? Anyone been? or want to go and investigate?

Let me know!

The deer lake rally is ablast!!! Wentlast year and will be going again this year!! Cannt wait!! Now for wheelin on cape there is no legal wheelin in mass unless its on private land. You can beach wheel from sandwich right on down to Ptown. You need permits tho no biggie tho town hall or fish and game office. Kind of boring but hey I lived there for 14yrs soo im just over it lol. Now for winter there is a meet in febuary Valentines day weekend in Benton Maine called winter romp. Search winter romp on this site and check it out. Absolute blast!!! Soo worth the drive!!

This is not true. There is plenty of legal wheeling in western Mass., people just don't bother putting the time in to find it. Beyond the famous Old Florida Rd. and Ma Bell there are a lot of old forest roads that are legal.

I'd certainly be interested in a NE meet. However if I don't get my Discovery in time will I be allowed to ride the trails with someone else

I'd be happy to carpool, it's not like I don't have any room or anything! .... Only rule if we pass a Pub you're buying! =)

Could you help give a Newbie New Englander some tips on finding these places??... I can get a plan together and maybe set something up for the first weekend of October, the 3rd? Let me know what everyone thinks & I'll keep posting as to the details, Thanks!!

Buy a Gazetter, a GPS, and a tank of gas. Spend some time online investigating instead of just asking for specific directions too. Look for State Forests etc. and find some dirt roads.

Use google maps and search for Ironworks rd in Clinton CT and click on satelite view. You'll see powerlines and that's where the trails are! Some great trails. I'll ask my friend for directions to the Deep River trails too since those are some good trails too!
