Default Qwik fix for sunroof on RR

Hi All...I am in Charlotte...seeking a qwik fix for an issue I am having with my sunroof. I was affected by mortgage meltdown and not worked since December - so, taking this issue to a repair shop is not an option. Also, being a woman, they see me coming and always take advantage of me.

My sunroof is not closing completely...one corner on the rear of the sunroof will not close completely. It's going to rain tomorrow - I have no garage. I can not locate the tool to close the roof manually as the RR manual suggests. Can someone PLEASE advise as soon as possible. Thanks!

I have no idea what year you have so take this reply with a grain of salt.

My Range Rover Classic has a round dome light next to the switch with to plastic screw lock type fastners. Loosen those and the cover, light and switch will come off. There you will see the motor and some wires. I used a large flat tip screw driver on the plastic portion where the land rover manual crank fits in to crank it down.

If you have a newer one I'm sure the idea is the same just maybe a different access point or location.

Best of luck

In a pinch, Ten feet of Duct tapes works like a gem.

That it does Terry lol. Considering she didn't come back after she asked the question I'm guessing she figured it out though.

LOL...You all are brutal! I knew revealing that I was a woman would subject me to these types of comments. But, it is what it is...I'm a woman who owns a 2001 4.6 HSE Range Rover. The dealer here is cut-throat! If I don't have a serious issue when I walk in there, I will when I leave.

I have attempted to use a flathead screwdriver, however, one side of the roof will not close completely.

Come on guys!...help me out here. Would you all really ride around with duct tape on a range rover? Give me some more suggestions, please. I mean I will use the duct tape when the clouds start rolling in, but the forecast has been kind and the rain has been postponed for a couple of days. At the risk of sounding like a whining 'woman', I can't afford to take my baby to a repair shop at the time. Seriously, can you all give me another suggestion. Thanks.

I would seriously look at using the manual close I don't have the tool either but usually a large flat tip will get the job done. The owners manual will tell you where to look, without the tool it's a matter of looking at the setup and improvising.

My response had nothing to do with you being a woman. I know women that wheel their Range Rovers and are better and driving them and fixing them than me. I joke with everyone I'm a equal opprotunity smart ass lol

As far as using duct tape on my Rover, it wouldn't be the first time

I should have duct taped my doors on this one lol

Thanks Army Rover! Your RR is a classic beauty!...Very rustic! Looks like you're from my home state of MA...Been in the South for about 16 years now...but a New Englander 'til the day I die!

I tried all I could independently to close the sunroof...took your duct tape advice...found some clear tape which is less noticeable...the true test will be when it rains - if we ever get any!

Thanks for the tips!

Rustic? you can say she's an ugly beast it's ok

I live in NH and work at Fort Devens MA, for now. I'm originally from Indiana. Soon though I'm sure the Army will move me again to another venue.
