Just a heads up for offroaders in the Kentucky area.
I have been getting some info. on some local Kentucky trails in the Daniel Boone National forest that have been closed! Specifically the Natural Bridge/Red River Gorge area near Slade,KY. I guess in early June there was to be the 16th annual J##p jamboree, but land use permits were denied to the organizers by the National Park service. So the event has been cancelled! I have been reading on some other forums that some pretty well known trails(around here at least) have been gated off and closed. Specifically Whites Arch and Carburator Hill from what I have read! Some great trails and spectacular scenery! I'll keep an eye out for any other closures. Also have heard some scuttlebutt about the Livingston off road area being slated for closure also! If anyone has any more info on trails closing in these areas, please post up here! Thanks ![]() |

Any reason why?...just curious. Some trails got closed in Northern Florida because murder victims kept appearing in these areas.

No nothing like that thank goodness!! I wouldn't be camping out there if that were the case. The reasons given were over use and abuse. Silt filling up sensitive creeks, erosion, etc., etc.. I do agree with a temporary closure, but these closures are perminent! Remember that when on your favorite trails wheel responsibly and try to tear the land up as little as possible, and clean up trash while on the trail. Might keep your trails open a little longer. |
