im posting for my buddy who has an LR disco 4.0 v8i, wants to do a swap because its gone to hell, blown, warped, the works. He wants a straight up swap if possible or for an upgrade, what all would have to be done as far as matching things up, and what are some options?
thanks guys

4.6 would be a pretty straight swap and pick up some nice power

From what I have read nothing that I can think of just make sure you get the ecu
I'm sure some of the more educated members on this swap will speak up shortly. Also check out east coast rovers they do alot of these swaps and have some good photo run throughs of the swap. http://eastcoastrover.com/

To put a 4.6 into a disco you would have to use your old timing cover but other than that it's not a huge deal. I don't have a 4.6 right now but i do have a several 4.0's Have him give me a call if he's interested.
thanks Marty

I've done the 4.6 swap, and it's rather easy. You don't even need the ecu. The truck will run with the 4.0 ecu; then you just bring it to your local dealer, and have them reflash it, to let it know it's running a 4.6 instead. Their are no adapters involved. Same transmission, same t-case, and same motor mounts. I got a gems 4.6 out of a RR, to save money, then just swapped on my BOSCH bits, which were all good. Found a lower mileage one for a better price. But to be safe, just swap gems to gems, and bosch to bosch. Then the only part from your motor that you'll need is the oil timing cover.
