Nice project vehicle and a good vintage too, 1979

So what are you planning? complete rebuild or something a little less ambitious?

That truck based on it's badging was a CKB truck, Complete Kit Build. Nice rare truck to bring into North America. CKB's were built in many countries, but it is rare to import one. The truck was built completely in kit form in South Africa. All of the parts were manufactured in England, by Land Rover. Then boxed up and shipped to SA. There, it was unboxed and completely assembled at the SA leyland plant. What a great find for you. A very easy truck to do a full teardown and restoration on. Excellent job on your father's part.

Judging by the fresh wiring under the hood. it's been kept up well. Also it looks to have an electronic ignition fitted as well. Has a roof rack , and the rare tropical roof (double layered), keep those badges, as it will be very hard to find replacements.

cool series. It will be fun to restore. A shameless plug for my buddies company but Stephen at Safari Rovers is a great contact for series parts. He can import anything you need from the UK and at great prices. PM me if you want his contact info. His website is out of date and the guy whose server it is on, has moved so he cant update it. sweetness, now i am doing some estimates on shipping cost, and i am put in charge (by my father) to see what paper work i need, what the regulations for the rover are to be in the country, and an accurate shipping cost ( i think theres something about 10% being added to the first 1k of the cars value?)

so while im researching, can you guys add in any input on shipping cost and regulations? thanks!

Nice find, African Rovers have some funky stuff done to them. From the looks of it the wiring looks scarier than my Kenyan Series 3. Have fun with the restoration. Here's a few before and after shots of my Series 3. It is a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit Stage 1 V8 from Kenya.

LOL! Great avatar.
What a great find in trucks. The more I look at those the more I want one.

Do a search, its not too hard as its over 25yrs old. The only thing is the paperwork. Luckly enough for me i had the government ship it for me so their people did it for me.
