Cool Cranked Rear Arms

Howdy folks, just thought I would show you all Eva's newest add-on.

These are cranked rear arms made by a guy called Gwyn Lewis over here in Wales. He makes some incredible gear for LRs.

So I spent a very happy hour fitting these cranked arms and whilst there I also replaced the bushes.

Because the trailing arms aren't at such an angle and sitting off centre at the chassis bush end the ride on the rear end is sooooooooooooooo much more comfy, no jarring shocks and hopefully the bushes will have an easier life!!

These are the pics of the arms in use.

There are quite a few companies who make those over here as well. I think they make a big difference.

Have you noticed any improvement on articulation? As long as nothing else was limiting your axled drop it seems that these could help. I could be way off here.

The best ones I've seen are made by RoverTym they are not really cranked but a custom design that allows for better clearance and actually has a skid ramp built into them.

Once I save up some more beans that will be one of my next steps. I've not seen many other ones in the US though other then imported ones at least not at a decent price.

When you get a chance, go look at what QT has for trailing arms, check out their radius arms also. http://www.qtservices.co.uk/product.asp?id=2822

Well there will always be something limiting the articulation, in my case it is the shocks. I have +2" pro comps on and they are bottoming out well before anything else begins to halt flex. The next things I am saving up for are +5" OME shocks to overcome this problem.

Well that goes both ways you guys have a lot more stuff available at lower prices but shipping is always a pain. Especially when the really cheap places won't even ship it.

They have nice stuff I looked at that before but they are more expensive then RTE and probably not much stronger if at all and shipping is going to be expensive. So not really a good option for us in the US. Unless you just want the bling factor.

It's the same thing with Britpart stuff. I know it's lower quality but it's cheap in the UK and all the US vendors mark it up like crazy. If you look at the Britpart poly busing kit at Paddocks it's like 40GBP or ~$80 the exact same kit cost $250 at Atlantic British.

I have often thought about starting up an export import business from the UK to the US and Canada. Always looks like you guys are getting screwed on parts!

yeah pretty much and lot's of people try and get into it on a smaller basis then the big 3. But then they figure oh I'll just screw everybody a little less and make some fast money.

There was one guy in Florida that tried to sell some of the QT Radius Arms and Trailing Arms. But he was asking about $500-600 each set. He thought he was justified. But considering you can get both sets from RTE for $500 it's not really worth it.

It's a tough market especially with the ever declining $ now.
