Yes, It IS a beautiful area!
I spent some time TDY there at Peterson when I was in the USAF. Love the drive down "Highway" 67 through Cripple Creek and Victor and on down towards Canon City. Last time for me was late Nov of 94, I think. Tried to make it up to the top of Pikes Peak but the last 3,000ft was closed the previous day for the winter. Got to see most of it, anyway.
I love the trying to imagine what it looked like back when it was a narrow guage railway line. Actually, probably not that much different than now.
Thanks for rekindling some fond memories!
