Got the diff guard installed the other day, and I added some "comfort" to its design.
In the pics, if you look closely you can see I added 1/2" thick dense rubber, cut to the width and length of the inner guard. I did this so when the guard takes a hit to the underside and front, the rubber will act like a shock absorber. The rubber is from a roll of rubber made for high tension belts and for moderate duty tractor tires. My friend's dad had some at his garage and he lent me some. ![]() Sven, sent me the guard, or what was left of it, but we took press to the thing and did some old fashioned blacksmithing to it, and got it straighter than it was before. Still probably best $65 spent. Thanks Sven! ![]()

Yeah, I wanted to get a better shot of it, but I will be busy between now and the time I leave for CO next week, so I did it tonight.
![]() I will try to get a daylight shot tomorrow, if I can. ![]()

![]() Just tell me the real reason, and John has done that to inform me that the guard would bend. I am just trying to protect my truck anyway I can, within my budget. Last thing I want happening is cracking a diff wide open...in the middle of CO, 1300 miles from home. The best thing for me is just to be careful, and to do what I can to protect vital parts of the truck. Apparently, sounds like you really don't give a shit. ![]()
