There isnt much rust at all. There is a small spot of surface rust on the drivers door, the part that goes into the door jamp, the running board has a spot, and there is a spot in the rear wheel well, it looks like it ubolts, where the mudflap connects. That is about it, hardly any. I cannot wait to get it registered so I can drive it around. The tires need to be replaced, they are pretty worn and cracked. I have some BFG AT 285/75/16 on my 2000 Ford Explorer I think I may put on, but may go with MT instead.

I figured I would, but with only $900 invested in the vehicle itself, I wont mind too much.

I plan on going with a 3" coil spring lift, i know those tires wont fit without it! I want to go with the RTE, but honestly, Im on a budget right now, so I will probably go with the Big Blue and Procomp +2" Shocks. Not the best setup, but it will work for now. With the BB springs and +2" Shocks, what else will I need, extended brake lines?

You should save for the RTE springs at least IMO. But yes with that you will want extended brake lines

Don't waste your time with big blue. It's not that much more to do it right.

Thats what I have read, maybe I will just "spring"for the better stuff, its only an extra $40 I think. I need to get the car registered and insured first, then I am going to try and put the springs in on my spring break in 2 weeks. Hopefully it wont take too long, I planned on finishing up the restoration on my 73 Mach 1 Mustang. Once I get it lifted I will put some pictures up in this thread so I dont have to start a new one
Thanks for the compliments and advice.

Just thought I would put a couple more pictures up.
It snowed pretty hard here the other week

The tires that came on the car were shot, not much tread and so cracked and dry rotted they looked like they would blow any second. I got some used Continental 235/70/16 for $20 per tire and put them on there for now. I took offroad for a big, nothing good just stopped for pictures

Now I have a problem. The reason why I dont have good offroad pictures is because I almost got stuck in a small mud hole, the front wheels werent getting power. My driveway is steep, and when im at the bottom and put it in 4lo it crawls right up. I jacked up the front tires, one at a time, and they spin freely with no sound of grinding or anything. I dont get any sound on normal driving, not even turning, except a small grind which I think is a wheel/hub bearing. When I took the P-Side wheel off to look at a leak, I saw blue gasket sealer, so I think that someone took out the front axles at some point. That or my VC may have gone bad? Any thoughts? I know its not in the right section, but no point in starting a new thread if I can get answers here.

if a vc fails due to being sezed all 4 will have power and you will have binding in your steering wheel. if the vc fails open "free spin" you will only have power to the front. Now being you have no power to the front, and the front is limited slip, I'd look into that front end. Just the other week I was talking to the local LR dealer, and they had a customer that had a broken axle shaft in the front, not being able to afford one he had the dealer put it back together without the shaft. does youres have ABS?
