Just got home from the 29th Annual Palo Alto British Car Meet... I think this was a record for me, I only spent 45 minutes there.. after going to a show/event for 15 years, you've seen all the Mini's, Healey's, Land Rovers, MG's etc etc.. so now I just scout out the new/interesting stuff..
So here for your viewing pleasure are some pics. The stripped chassis was actually the Dali Lama's personal car! It's for sale.. god knows how much... The red Lotus Elise looking thing is from Tesla. It's completely carbon fiber on aluminum frame (looks like an Elise chassis) powered by Li-ion battery packs. Does 0-60 in "about" 4 seconds (that's what their site says... what the heck is "about" 4 seconds???.. is it 4.1 or 4.9?), gets the equivalent of 135 MPG.. BUT it will cost about $100,000. They are nuts... I don't think they will get too mant takers for a car that is dimensionally and physically a near copy of an Elise and costs twice as much. Sure it doesn't polute and it fast, but $100k for a battery powered Elise... they'll never sell enough to make ends meet and will fold quickly.

Oh yeah... the yellow '88 with the bare metal fenders has a 200tdi set up in it. It's not complete, but that will be a nice conversion once it's done.

Serg - thanks for sharing those pictures. I enjoy car shows and seeing all the different ones. I thought it was pretty cool to see a good lot of a variety of Series models out there. Not to mention, major droll - over the D110!
Thanks! Melissa |

Great pics.
Are there still rovers/d90's on El Camino in front of Stanford Univ.(next to starbucks) for sale? I used work right off of El Camino and Embarcadero a few years ago. I remember seeing different rovers for sale every week, especially D90s. |
