I have a 2004 Range Rover HSE and my dealership changes the oil every 15,000 miles. Isnt that alittle too long? I checked my oil filter recently and it is full of metal shavings. And the oil is BLACK and smells burnt. The oil has 10k miles on it and I question myself about running another 5k on that oil.

If it feels wrong then don't do it. You may wan't to check, www.RangeRovers.net. Go into the Forum and ask them there. That's were most of the MKIII Range Rover owners hang out. I know Disco's don't like the 7,500 service interval. I'm not sure how your beemer engine likes 15k. I know they have had a few oil filters fall apart so you should check that too.
I think there is a server operation service interval. I think most vehicle in the US qualify for that. What's in the book is for perfect circumstances. Beware of sludge running the oil that long. You may also want to check out Bob Is the Oil Guy.com (all one word) Google it. Lots of good info on oil.
