Default 1998 Range Rover Stuck In PaRK .

My Range just experienced its first big problem . I was driving the range with no problems when all of a sudden I put it in Reverse to back out of my friends driveway and when I went to put it in drive it just didnt want to leave park

The stick slides back and forth with no problems but the dash says that it is in park. The car never had any problems with the tranny before this so im thinking its something electrical.

What would you guys do ???? I dont want to bring it to the land rover dealer because i know they will charge me an arm and a leg.
