Default 2003 Range Rover Alternator not working

Hello all,
is there a fusible link anywhere on the charging system for a 2003 Mk III? I have no charging current coming from the alternator.....gulp.

no. there is a diode built into the engine harness but that's all. If you pull the alternator out, you'll probably see that the outside body of it is scorched. If your RR was ever driven without coolant, it could have overheated the alternator to death. If you didn't know, those alternators are water cooled.

yes they do cost a lot. You may be able to find one used for a BMW but I have never looked. I've replaced a few of those things and I'm willing to bet that is your problem.
