Default 2004 or 2005 RR HSE??

I have a 95lwb County fully restored that I love to load the dogs in and drive in town and for fun....just sold my MB CL500 and am considering a low mileage 04 or 05 HSE. My question is with ALL the ownership changes and mechanical issues, which year is most reliable for an everyday driver, or are they essentially the same? ALL input appreciated and if anyone has a blk/blk or silver/blk they want some fast cash for let me know.....M

As with any Rover product; buy the newest model, and the lowest mileage model which you can afford. Good luck with your search.

I've had my 2005 RR for three years now, and I've really enjoyed it. As a matter of fact I'm planning on buying it at the end of the lease in August.

My advice, buy a CPO RR from a LR dealer! That way you will have the warranty till 75,000 or 100,000 miles and LR currently has 3.9% interest rate on the purchase of all Certified Pre-Owned trucks!!

'05 was the last with the BMW engine and the first with the better Navigation system. The perfect overlap if you ask me.

That is a good point the touch screen nav system is very easy to use.......the earlier button controlled one was a pain-in-the a$$

Go with an 06. The crap that goes wrong with them was fixed plus the jag engine is better. plus no front diff that blows out or radiators that leak or 1200 water cooled alternators.

Default 06 Sport or HSE

If I step up to 06 is it better to go with Sport? Maintenance and resale are biggest factors for me.....

Go for the '05. The navi on the 04 is HORRIBLE. I can't stand using it. Worst navi ever!

I don't know about the 06 Jag engine being better then the bmw. I've heard mixed stories. I guess it's preference.

There's a guy making a new driveshaft to fix the spline wear issue.

it is possible to upgrade the entire system. The computer in the back just unplugs and you can plug a new one in that is DVD based. However I looked into it for my father's '04 and it turns out it's about 800 bucks! That's not including the nav DVD you need to upgrade to.
