Default 98 Range changed battery and now no trans???

I just put a new battery in my 98 Range and now I am getting a "transfer neutral" reading on the info screen and my tranny when put in gear does nothing. If I try to put it in park while running it grinds. All this started just after installing a new battery. I also disconnected the fuel door button to inspect it because my fuel door was not working, after inspecting it fell apart and is not all there. Could this cause a problem? This has me really worried. if anyone has had a similar experience please help......

Make sure you have not put a fuse in position 11 on the seat fuse board. This selects "transfer neutral"
select high or low and it should re ingage
