When I bought the 2000 Range 4.6 a few weeks ago the coolant level was about 2 inches below the full line when cold. I drove it for about a week and it never went below that level. I added more coolant and I checked again a week later and it is at about the same level (2" below the full line) It doesn't seem to drop past that and I don't know where it is going. I don't see any leaks, no wet carpet, dip stick and cap look good no condensation. Any ideas?

I guess I will keep adding to my question. LOL. This morning when I checked the coolant level cold it was way down, almost to the hose. So I open the cap and a little hiss comes out, not much of a hiss but a little pressure. I walk over to grab the anti freeze and when I came back to the car it was back up to about 1.5 inches below the fill arrow. Is this normal?
I took it by my local indie mechanic who is known to be good. It wasn't him who took a look but another guy there who said they can check it out if I leave it overnight so they can watch it but also said something I read on another site that they tend to find their own level. That you can fill it to the fill line all you want but if its level is an inch or 2 below it will always go back to that. Is this true? Sorry for all the questions regarding something I am sure has been discussed before. But I did do a lot of searching on this site and some other sites and can't find my exact situation. I spent a good 10k on a 97 Disco from over heating so as you can imagine this is my worry point. Just the hint of that AWFUL smell of rad fluid strikes panic in me! LOL Other than the coolant level, the car runs fine. Always stays at halfway on the temp gauge, idles fine, and I can't find a single leak. But when my Disco overheated it didn't give me a warning. The temp gauge was fine one second and the thing starting running like crap the next second. Thank you and soon I will be a pro and be able to answer questions here...
