Default Anybody Turbo or Supercharged their P38

I have a 96 4.0 and I want to add a supercharger or preferably turbocharger (fuel economy) has anybody fitted a p38 with either or know of a way? I was thinking I could fabricate something, but I don't want any headaches with my ecu or check engine light.

It might be more complicated than you think, I've never done any kinda mod like that to any truck or SUV, let alone a Rover. All I can say is that it would a custom job and outta be neat when it is all done!! If you carry through with a forced induction system, let us know how it went.

Theres a company called Overfinch that has been tricking out Rovers for years. They always used Eaton Superchargers. You can find Eaton Supercharger if you google it. Might take a little research but you should be able to find. Can find tel no. at www.eaton.com.

Not sure if turbocharging a land rover engine is commonly done. However there is a book i heard about called Tuning Rover V8 Engines by David Hardcastle. You might try to pick up a copy of that and see if it refers to turbocharging.

if you want to use a Centrifugal style (like a Procharger, Vortech, Paxton, Comptech etc) I've got a Procharger kit (for sale) off of a 2005+ Mustang V6. With some custom fabed mounts i'm certain you could get some sick power out of the P38 motor. That type of s/c is basically a pulley powered turbo.

What would you like to know?
My rover was supercharged by a company called Cameron Concepts out of the San Diego area. I think that they are called Chariots of fire now.
My Rover is a 97 4.6. Boost is about 4-5 psi max. I talked to Chariots one time and the guy said that there was not much change to the engine. No computer work for that amount of boost. CARB and smog legal too!

I am not really sure what type of supercharger it is, but the guy at Chariots of Fire said that it was an Easton/Eaton?.

My mechanic has one in his shop with cracked block or head ( cannot remember ). Not sure if the problem was poor maintenance which kills any Rover engine, or the supercharger.

Although I have a 4.6 in my 1992 RR1 I've just learned to enjoy going slowly, which my drivers license had thrived under!
