Default electric fan/ EBC Brakes

Hello, I am new to this forum but love to use them. I have a 98 4.0 RR that I enjoy driving, I was purchased this vehicle last winter and I know why because it overheats when driving in warm weather and your not moving. I had my mechanic do a full oil flush on it and he meet me to drop it off and noticed that the electric fans didnt cut on. the vehicle runs fairly well while on the expressways but if I have to stop in traffic for a few minutes at a light then it starts to heat up, but once I pull off it cools back down. When i first got the vehicle the AC didnt work and I replaced a few fuses along with the 2 cabin filters and everything works fine. Is there a relay/switch that stops/starts the fans to working??? I temp hard wired the fans to the battery and both turned over fine so i believe that there is an open, (not a short because I "assume" that would give me an error code) or a defective relay. Well your help would be greatly appreciated as my wife wants to start driving it once I get the brakes replaced as I am getting a low brake fluid error and the shop told me my pads need to be replaced in a few months.

PS are the EBC brakes worth it and where can I get a good full inexpensive set as I am in Lawrenceville, Georgia USA.

Thanks for your help. i can be e-mailed directly at rqchildress@bellsouth.net.

Hi there, are you referring to the 2 fans in front of the radiator?
If so, all is probably ok, they are NOT for the engine, but are for the A/C, they only work when the aircon is on & the temp sensor is calling for condenser-cooling.
You should have a belt-driven, viscous-controlled fan BEHIND the rad, in front of the engine.

Like Modelman said, those two fans only come-on on demand from the ECM, when the A/C is on and the "head" pressure gets to a point that is too high, the ECM sends a signal to ground a wire in the binary switch(Slow speed), the fans come on at slow speed, if the high pressure persists the ECM sends another signal for the high speed to kick in. I've had mine P38 for three years and I have never seen them come on.
I even installed a toggle switch to make them come-on at my will. This way if I'm stuck in traffic I can just flip the swich and I keep on trucking!
