For sometime time now I heard a squeaking noise coming from the left front wheel, it sounds like the pad have worn off and as if one is riding onthe rotor. Since I had just had a brake job done, I ruled it out as worn pad a fact confirmed by physical observation. Initially the noise comes on after driving for about 30 to 40 minutes, but now it comes on immediately. Could it be the differential? Am at a lost, the noise is driving me nuts. Any idea what could be causing the noise?
The noise disappears when I step on the brake or when the vehicle stop moving. |

To confuse the matter more, or help narrow it down
my truck is doing this. I was thinking it was because I just found my swivel joint was dry, and i filled it, but it still makes the noise. Mine is only when turning, fairly sharp, like when their is a decent amount of weight transfer, and it sounds like a rolling screeching. its hard to tell if it still does it when the brakes are applied or not, but i do not think it is a pad. It does it regardless of which way I turn. Does yours do it when just driving straight? Hopefully we can figure this out. I was guessing that my swivel joint is just worn now that it's been run dry. But everything I've heard has said that the swivel will knock and not squeek.

It is fairly common to get small stones / grit stuck in between the inside face of the disc & the round splash guard. This can give various different noises like squeaks, squeals & screeches .
Slide under the car looking at the inside of the wheel. Using a flashlight, try & see in between the splash guard & the disc. Often if you gentle pry out the guard (open up the gap) the stone / grit will simply fall out. cheers, Andy ![]() |

Hmm, that sounds like surface of the brake discs are not even and while the wheel is spinning, a part of the brake pad is touching the brake disc...OR an uneven worn brake pad which is also due to the surface of the brake disc...
