Default holland and holland edition

hello all, proud owner of a 2001 holland and holland edition here. having some issues that i am hoping some kind individuals can help me with. first. the cd unit seems to load the magazine and discs but then when i turn on the radio unit i get "no magazine" i have been told that i need to replace the cd unit and others have said forget it and just use the radio. second. recently i took it in to have an annual going over and the shifter died so they replaced that but now the radio seems to be acting strangely. it comes on but no sound.. or random sound just from the rear door speakers. no volume or adjustments allowed. the nav system appears to be working fine. i noticed that in another post someone said something about the battery going flat and the nav system getting blown and not working. i have had issues recently with the battery. it is less than six months old but after having the annual going over and the shifter replaced it was flat after driving home. charged it up and let my baby run for a while. the next morning the battery was flat again. charged it fully with the charger and now (fingers crossed) it seems to be fine. the radio problem started while it was being worked on. so... i dont know if there is a fuse problem.. nav system prob.. wiring problem.. or the radio just needs to be replaced. i know that rovers have a bad rap about electrical but i dont know whats going on and really could use some help. thx in advance for any and all assistance.

I am not an expert on electronics, but the first thing I would do is to go and have Autozone or Advance check your battery and alternator. Sometimes batterys look like they get good voltage, but under load they do not perform correctly.

Its free to have them checked. Rover electronics do not like low voltage sometimes the truck will kick into limp home mode and almost nothing will work.

Have you jumper another vehicle off recently? sometimes you can mess up some electricals by jumping off other vehicles that require higher crank amps than your battery.
