Exclamation Idle Problems!!!

I have terrible idle problems in my 2001 RR 4.6HSE. The stealership replaced the mass air flow sensor with no improvement. I ran a fuel injector cleaner through the fuel and that didn't help either. What to do?!

I brought it to a local mechanic who cleaned out the throttle body - he said it was full of carbon buildup- and that fixed the problem.

mine did it to, cleaned the idle air stepper motor and no problems since.

If you don't already know, RangeRovers.net is a supurb resource of information on your Rangie, there's technical "member submitted" articles for repairs and solutions, and there's also a great forum that the above quotes and threads came from. It also has a great search function, give that a go.
Hopefully you only need a throttle body cleaned and you'll be good to go.

Hey Mike --- the dealer just did the 90k factory service (which is a huge service). The problems arise when I stop at a red light or whenever I am at idle (under 1000RPM). I always put premium gas in her. When at park, I'll rev the engine up to just over 1000RPM and the vibration is gone.

Do you have a check engine light on, how does it run when driving, is it smooth, does it pull hard under power? Does it happen when the engine is hot or cold?
Just out of curiosity, open your hood and look at the under hood liner, does it have any new tears or wear marks on the material? The reason I am asking is I am wondering if your have broken both of your engine mounts, if so the engine will feel rough and it will lift up and rub on the under hood insulation pad.

Default posible causes.

It looks more like a spark or injection problem ,but if you had the injector cleaned up and no change occurred it is wise to look the spark plugs, a change would be advisable(original one are required ) . If problem persist buy a canister of carb cleaner and clean the stepper motor entry (remember to write dawn number of turns when taking of the security plug off, and unscrew the inner screw ) or you would have to take it to a dealer to have it calibrated again in between 15 and 30 steps .star here and then we will go on other possible causes .

Saludos
