Default Locking Gas Cap - LR Response

I received a telephone call from Land Rover about my quest for a locking gas cap. I was told by the person that called that:

Supposedly the door to my filler door should not open if the car doors are locked. When I explained that all you had to do was lightly tap the door it popped open - they indicated that it was defective and should be taken to the dealer for repair.

But then they continued on by saying "you should NOT be able to open the filler door unless the doors are unlocked and the key is IN the IGNITION."

When I told them they couldn't be serious - that in order to open the filler door I had to leave the keys in the ignition??? That doesn't even begin to make any sense what so ever.

I received another call from LR since I questioned the logic behind the requirement to have the key in the ignition to unlock the filler door. No surprise they were wrong.

But what I was told that all other LR products have either filler doors that lock and/or after market gas caps can be purchased... the one exception RR Sports.

When asked if LR was going to work with an after market vendor to provide specs for a locking cap.. the answer was basically NO.
