Default need help getting the rear hatch open on a 1996 Range Rover HSE

Hello I just bought a 1996 Range Rover HSE and when I first got it only the rear glass would open and not the tailgate now the button has stopped working completly does anyone know how access it when it is closed and won't open please help my email is davidnordstrom@ymail.com

try removing the lower tail gate cover from inside the vehicle you will find
two latches inside one for the upper (glass) and one for the tail gate,
you should be able to manually trigger them by hand. I did this on a range rover
of the same year in a junkyard and open it right up!
Hope this helps.. try checking the wiring harness while your there, it may have wiggled loose.
