Question P38 Gas door problem

Hello all,

Fairly new guy with hopefully an easy question. Recently the gas door on my 2002 RR HSE decided not to work properly. If I push the button on the dash myself it doesn't pop open; I either need to have the front seat passenger push the button while I tug on the door or I have to use the pull-cord that is in the back of the cargo area. Needless to say this is frustrating. Has anyone had any issues like this or know of any quick and easy fixes. I really don't want to take it in to a shop for something like this.

Thanks again,
Jimmy

Check your dash switch, they are known to fail. If you can hear the click at the door but it will not open check the solenoide that operates the door lock.

Regards Russell.

I can hear the "click" when I push the button, however, I did forget to mention that the latch/post (not sure of its british name) is angled inward. Do these bend or is it always angled?

The additional switch isn't a bad idea if you don't mind getting out of the drivers seat and into your cargo space to open your gas door. The fuel door switch is a $12 part and the fuel door clip (prone to wear out) is $6 - each at roverconnection - just had to do this last week on our old P38 - took about 20 minutes to put both in.
