My '96 2.5 DSE has the factory towhook, everything works fine, trouble is, it appears to be non-ajustable, unlike my old Discovery one which had a 5 position unit. Now & again I have to tow my humungus twin-axle trailer & it's tow-hitch is about 50-100mm above the RR towball when everything is static & level, therefor, I have to force the hitch down onto the ball, this of course 'loads' the front wheels on the trailer & 'lightens' the rear. Then it gets worse once over 55mph when the car lowers to motorway mode (the inhibit switch dosn't prevent this). consiquently, it starts to weave about at anything above 50 mph. Out of interest, my LWB-Hi-top transit tows it great at 80 mph!! No matter how the trailer is loaded, i.e. heavy at front or heavy at back, this still happens, due, I believe to the unven rig-up.Also, I'm not sure if an anti-snake unit can be fitted as I cannot see anywhere to fix it to!
So finally, my question, can the factory tow-hook somehow be ajusted for height? Or am I condemmed to 50 mph towing from now on!!

I have the same problem with my trailer,I have to remove the jockey wheel or it catches the ground. This is from the owners manuall, shortened but all the info is there."select access height, when lowered press the inhibit switch.
select standard ride height, vehicle should rise and be locked in standard ride height".I lower my truck, press inhibit switch then reverse under the tow hitch.Message on panel "warning EAS manual mode" then just raise the truck up to the hitch. |

Thanks, but still no good for me, even at 'full' height, its still 50-100 too low so I have to force the trailer down to the ball, it then gets worse as I drive off & lowers itself down to 'normal' ride height, the overide does not prevent this, what I need to do, is somehow raise the hook assembly.
