Red face Question and horror story if your bored

I have posted this problem before I thought I would post the developing story to let you know what’s happening and hopefully gain some knowledge as to what’s wrong with my RR. So about 3 weeks ago now my battery died and I replaced it and couldn't reprogram my key by the way stated in the owners manual because the driver’s door transmitter (I don’t know if that’s the correct term) for the central locking system was not working properly. Before the battery died if I where to try and lock the car just using the key it would only lock the drivers side door and not any of the others... Ok so my battery died and I got a new one then a couple days later I came back from classes and unlocked my drivers door with the key and the alarm went off when I went to go turn the key to start the car and hopefully turn the alarm off the engine disabled prompt came on so I quickly popped the hood and shut off the horn. Now here's how I’m stuck my key isn't programmed so I cant press the button and start the RR. I think its not programming because the Transmitter on the drivers side door isn't communicating with the central locking system. - I don’t know if any of this makes sense so please correct me if I’m wrong- I also cannot successfully perform the actions to disable the system without the keypad posted here http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdet...m.html#locking about the unlock and lock 5 times because of the faulty transmitter on the drivers door. I also have tried to turn the key over to the second position in the ignition and disconnect the battery to try and erase the alarm code but have had no luck. Along the same lines I have left the car disconnected from the battery for 5 days while I was stuck in the Bermuda hurricane. This transmitter I am talking about is a little black box on the left inside of the drivers door where the rods from the lock cylinder and the interior door handle connect. Where can I find one new and if anyone has had a similar issue please explain... Please help me try and pinpoint the problem I would really like to tear out the alarm system if anyone knows where the computer is for that I will just take it out. I have worked at a shop during the summer restoring classic cars and doing small repairs for years I am not afraid to dive into any aspect of the vehicle and would like to try and stay away from taking the RR to the dealer due to the cost of labor and tow. Thank you!!!
P.s. Transmitter is definitely the wrong word but it’s late and my brain is mush right now Thanks for the help! Hopefully I can get back again soon!!! Sorry this is soooooo long
