A few weeks ago I had a bad missing problem on my 2000 Range 4.6. I went and had the plug wires, plugs, and coil packs (or what they are called) changed and now it runs fine. I took it in today to have it smoged. It passed the emissions part but failed another part due to a few fault codes having to do with a couple misfires in 2 cylinder's. When they fixed my wires do the fault codes go away or do they need to be reset? I'm just wondering if I have another problem or are they the faults left over from before I had it repaired?
Also, shouldn't my car have a check engine light? When I turn the key on and it lights up all the idiot lights for a few seconds I don't see a check engine light. Or does it appear in the message screen? Thank you in advance...

codes will reset once you drive through enough drive cycles.
or you can buy a cheap OBDII diagnostic reader with code rest function - these are like $20-30 bucks. if you are getting misfires persistent AFTER all those components were replaced, then either the codes are building to the threshold where they will trip the service engine light. OR... the light bulb for your check engine light may be burned out or missing. Insert key and turn to 2nd position you should at least see amber 'service engine soon' light on the right side.
