Remote handset issues

I would like to purchase a remote handset but I can not tell which handset I have, 1 or 2. Unfortunately, unlocking with the handset does not position the mirrors or seat. Is this still another issue? It also does not raise wndows when locking or super locking.
In reference to my present handset, I can see a daub of grey paint on the area that should be grey or black but it definitely is not enough to base a decision on.
