If you are removing the whole thing with the rail, it might need rubber grommet to patch the whole in the roof.
I once removed roof rack from 97 Disco I and bought 2" rubber grommet and plugged the hole for the rack on the roof. |

I believe those are the security hex nuts or bolts used to prevent theft. You can get a set from AUto Zone or also I have seen from Sears Craftmand Catalog also. I believe these have a little hole on the center of the socket to fit in the bolts with pin.

'02 Range Rover. Is that a P38 (the last year they were made) or an L322 (if you don't live in the States?
P38 uses those integrated into the roof design.
