Default Satellite Navagation

I have purchased a 2006 Range Rover but unlike my 2004 part exchange i am unable to use the Sat Nav unless the vehicle is in park with the hand brake on. Land Rover are both unwilling and unable to offer any solutions saying its a safety feature (Unlike the 2004) and have had to bow to insurance companies. The companies that neither gave me a discount for the safer system or gave me a cheque to help pay for it. Maybe Land Rover should look at what the paying customer wants.

Does anyone know how to disconnect the system from the Gearbox / hand brake?

+ can you beleive there are three cup holders, none for the poor fool who's driving the damn thing!!

I have heard your same comment from the guys who want the belt minder warning chime turned off. They dont want to obey the law and they shouldnt be made to or constantly reminded of.

Same with navigation. Playing around with the buttons is a disctraction. especially with your eyes completely focused on a screen. If a cop caught you playing around with it and driving erraticallly it would be a ticket. Thats not if you got into an accident. Deal with it. It has your safety in mind.

Don't kid yourself...it's not about your safety it's about their money and lawsuits.......
Did you know that the people in europe are evidently soooo much smarter than we are that not only can they use the nav whenever they want....but......there is a chip that lets them use the nav screen as a DVD player.
Just to clarify you can use some features as long as the destination is already in the system.......ie. you can always enter "home" as a destination, but you could not enter your street address.
"Welcome to America"....just please don't sue us.

Sorry to say, i'm currently in the UK, so just as bad here. As for the comment regards of obeying the law, then stop me changing radio stations, stop me changing DVD settings, stop me changing all the workings of the computer system, stop me looking at the nav system to view junctions, and oh and by the way sell me a set of horse blinkers to stop me looking at the wife and kids.

It's not about breaking the law it's about choice of an intelligent individual having a mind of his own to make a rational decision.

Would you guys in the US be happy about having to pull up in the Brox hand brake on, car placed in park because your lost? Safety does not come into it.

Take away choice and your left with sheep that cannot make a decision for themselves. 15 years driving i think i know what is safe and what is not.
